Novi is a city in Oakland County in the U.S. state of Michigan, located approximately 20 minutes northwest from Detroit and approximately 20 minutes northeast from Ann Arbor. According to the 2013 census, the population of Novi was at 57,960 people. On the Money magazine's list of the Top 100 Best Places to Live in 2008, the City of Novi was ranked No. 48.
Novi was incorporated as a city in 1969 after the approval of a city charter on February 18, 1969 by Village of Novi voters. Some of the historic places in Novi include the Historic Township Hall, Tollgate Farm, Colonel Samuel White Homestead, Novi Depot and the Jacob and Rebecca Fuerst Farmstead.

Novi is home to the 52-1 District Court. This Court is located at 48150 Grand River Ave, Novi, MI 48374. The court has three divisions including civil including landlord tenant, criminal including drunk driving, dui, owi, owil, and all traffic matters. 52-1 District Court does not hear cases with the amount in controversy over $25,000. These cases over $25,000 dollars are heard in the Oakland Circuit Court Located in Oakland County Michigan at 1200 N. Telegraph Rd. Pontiac, MI. This Court is also home to a family division which hears case involving divorce, child custody, paternity, child support, personal protection orders etc. In addition, Novi, Michigan is also subject to the Probate Court at Oakland Circuit Court.
