FARMINGTON

Farmington is a city in Oakland County of the U.S. state of Michigan, located approximately 20 minutes from the City of Detroit. According to the 2013 census, the city population was 45,426. Farmington is surrounded by the City of Farmington Hills and Livonia.

Farmington, first know as Quakertown, was founded in 1824 by Arthur Power. In 1926, the City officially changed its name to Farmington after Farmington, New York, Power’s hometown. Farmington is part of State Senate District 14, represented since 2009 by Democrat Vincent Gregory.

 Farmington is known for its historic downtown with many renovated historic buildings, elegant Victorian-style homes, the Walter E. Sundquist Pavilion, beautiful parks and great schools.

In 2007 Best Places to Live survey by CNNMoney.com, Farmington was listed as No. 55. In 2013, Farmington was ranked 27th on the list for the Best Places to Live in America.

Farmington has public, private and parochial schools within the city limits. The City public schools are part of the Farmington Public School District. Some of the best schools in Farmington are the Farmington High School, Farmington Community School, Gill Elementary School, Longacre Elementary School, Cloverdale School, Alameda Early Childhood Center and Sunny Day - Day Care.

POLICE DEPARTMENT

Farmington City Police Department is located at 23600 Liberty St, Farmington, MI.


COURT

The 47th District court serves the cities of Farmington and Farmington Hills.  This Court is located at 31605 W. Eleven Mile Rd, Farmington Hills, MI 48336. The court has three divisions including civil including landlord tenant, criminal including drunk driving, dui, owi, owil, and all traffic matters.  47th District Court does not hear cases with the amount in controversy over $25,000.  These cases over $25,000 dollars are heard in the Oakland Circuit Court Located in Oakland County Michigan at 1200 N. Telegraph Rd. Pontiac, MI. This Court is also home to a family division which hears case involving divorce, child custody, paternity, child support, personal protection orders etc.  In addition, Farmington, Michigan is also subject to the Probate Court at Oakland Circuit Court. The probate Court handles matters such as decedent’s estates, wills, trusts, guardianships, patient advocate issues, power of attorney issues etc.
